Get ready– Riot on the Roof will be taking place this year on Saturday, August 23rd! Are you an emerging young artist who wants to showcase your work? Someone who wants to volunteer? You can also let us know your ideas by sending us a suggestion for something you want to see at ROTR 2014:
Due to so many great bands lined-up to play at ROTR 2013 we will be extending the event until 11:45. Crowd The Joanna will be finishing off the night with a foot-stompin’ and whiskey hollerin’ performance. Make sure to stay awake, kiddies – this is going to be a show you won’t want to miss! Spread the word!
I am proud to announce that Riot on the Roof 2013 will include its first ever metal band!! XUL – a five piece group based out of Vernon, BC follows in the footsteps of bands such as: Behemoth, Dissection, and Immortal. They have left this beaten path and set out to forge their own brand of Blackened Death Metal.
An energetic and interactive live performance – with crushing rhythms seamlessly coalescing into atmospheric passages, accompanied by punishing percussion waves and subtle vocal harmonies – expands upon the previously established essence of the sub-genre. With songs reminiscent of war-torn landscapes, destructive human nature and evil intent, XUL has captivated audiences and garnered positive reviews, and on June 16, 2012, released their first full length album, entitled “Malignance”.
Can’t wait to see these guys live at Riot, August 24th! Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/Xulband
Come on down to Riot on the Roof on Saturday, August 24th to hang out with the boys from Crowd the Joanna. A boot-stomping, whiskey-hollering hoe-down full of sea chanteys and drinking hymns, Crowd the Joanna, formed in Kelowna during the great depression of 2012.
This is one high energy performance you won’t want to miss! Where else are you going to see some rockin’ bluegrass music with mandolin’s, banjo’s, and beards?
Tickets for Riot on the Roof now available at the Vernon Public Art Gallery and Bean Scene in Vernon. $10 each.
“…this band is a rock riot — their tone and brutal presence of Folk/Bluegrass inspired music is genius. Not only is it rowdy and celebrated, the band combines an easy listening tone with gritty punk roots.” – Jeff Stychin, Awesome Okanagan
“Best-darn root tootin’ foot stompers in the Okanagan Valley.” -Jim Reiner

For the short time Nathan Hare has been alive, he has been perfecting the balancing act of performance poetry. Immersed in the written word yet drawn towards the stage, Nathan has performed over a hundred times in the last two years, sharing his pieces anywhere from churches to sweaty basements. Praised for his humour, honesty, and narrative ability, Nathan ultimately attempts to create work that will both bring joy and inspire.

Next on the docket for Riot on the Roof is a group of young talent based out of Vernon, BC.
Naked Ghosts is a band consisting of Jesse Hubner on drums, Austin Boylan on vocals/guitar, Garnet Aronyk on lead guitar, and Sage Aronyk on bass. Naked Ghosts write their own original music. Formed in October 2012, the band has been working on their self titled debut album ”1601”. Next on Riot’s main stage lineup is fellow Vernonites – The Dragstrip Devils! Never before seen playing on a hometown stage – this rockabilly trio loves fast cars, hot licks, and pin-up chicks! Influenced by Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, and Johnny Burnett, their songs will make you want to rip it up and hit that dance floor with your baby.
The band consists of Neil – upright bassist and lead singer, Brett on lead guitar with his quick picking fingers, and Jamie on drums keeping that back beat with sticks in hand.
Come join us at Riot on the Roof, August 24th, to give these guys a huge hometown welcome!!! They guarantee to keep you folks shakin’ all over with their retro cool and lively performance. Like them on facebook at www.facebook.com/TheDragstripDevils
